Imagine stepping into the beating heart of Bvlgari’s world—the place where molten gold becomes serpentine coils, where uncut gems are coaxed into brilliance, and where every gesture is steeped in over a century of Roman heritage. Now imagine being invited to sit at the bench, tools in hand, to learn those very secrets yourself.
This September, the Italian jewellery house is doing something unprecedented in its 140-year history: it’s opening the doors of its Valenza Manifattura—the world’s largest single-branded jewellery manufacturing site—to students from around the globe. Scuola Bvlgari, developed in partnership with Tarì Design School, will offer immersive, hands-on programs in goldsmithing and gemstone setting, taught by the very masters who craft the Maison’s most coveted creations.
The Goldsmithing course, running until April 2027, is a 1,680-hour deep dive into the alchemy of jewellery-making— from soldering and laser cutting to polishing and lost-wax casting. The Gemstone Setting program offers 600 hours of training in pavé, bezel, prong, and claw settings, anchored by gemological theory so that every stone is understood before it is set.
This is no ordinary classroom. Here, benches replace desks, loupes replace screens, and your “homework” is the transformation of raw materials into works of art. The faculty is drawn from Bvlgari’s own ranks: master goldsmiths, 3D designers, gemologists, and technical experts, working steps away from the Maison’s active ateliers.
The school expands on Bvlgari’s Jewellery Academy, founded in 2017 to train internal talent, but Scuola Bvlgari takes the mission public—welcoming beginners, career changers, and anyone with the dedication to master the craft. In Valenza, where over 32 nationalities already work side by side, the Maison also runs its Refugee Program, offering training and integration opportunities for asylum seekers—an initiative recognised by the UNHCR’s “Welcome.Working for Refugee Integration” label.
Scuola Bvlgari is more than an education; it’s an invitation to join a lineage of artisans and to preserve the artistry of Italian fine jewellery for the next generation. The first classes begin September 2025.
Would you trade your desk job for a bench and a jeweller’s loupe?
