Mumbai, August 21 — Celebrated couturier Rahul Mishra has unveiled his largest flagship store yet in the heart of Mumbai’s historic Horniman Circle, a 7,500 sq ft space conceived not merely as a retail destination but as a living museum of couture.

Maison Rahul Mishra, designed in close collaboration with architect Rooshad Shroff, is envisioned as a sanctuary where fashion, craft, and architecture merge in quiet celebration of handwork and storytelling.

“When we were approached to design Rahul’s flagship, we knew it couldn’t simply be a backdrop for garments — it had to become a physical extension of his universe,” said Shroff. “The space immerses visitors in the rich tapestry of embroidery, storytelling, and craftsmanship that defines his work.”

The store unfolds as an immersive journey into Mishra’s world. Visitors first encounter a contemplative gallery — intentionally devoid of garments — showcasing sketches, muslin swatches, and botanical embroideries, a prologue to the collections. Deeper within, each room takes on the character of Mishra’s recurring motifs: botanical, entomological, and avian realms rendered in embroidered walls, sculptural mannequins, handwoven carpets, etched marble fixtures, and bespoke lamps.

The finale is a soaring chamber where a constellation of handcrafted metal birds appears suspended mid-flight, their motion mirrored by marquetry bird motifs on the walls — a crescendo of scale and intimacy.

“Building this store felt less like creating a retail space and more like composing a living museum,” said Mishra. “Rooshad reimagined subtle elements from past collections into the language of architecture. The store doesn’t just display garments — it extends the emotion, the thought, and the craft that shaped them.”

Much of what inhabits the flagship has been crafted within Mishra’s own studio — from archival embroidery swatches and drawings to dried flowers and hand-finished objects, reinforcing the maison’s philosophy of couture as storytelling.

With its opening, Maison Rahul Mishra establishes itself not only as the designer’s most ambitious retail project to date but also as a cultural landmark in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda. It honors India’s legacy of craft while proposing a fresh vocabulary for contemporary luxury.
