Last night at Paris Couture Week, Rahul Mishra unveiled Becoming Love at the historic Collège des Bernardins, marrying Sufism, classical art, and couture craftsmanship.
Drawing inspiration from the seven stages of love—from attraction to death—Mishra infused the collection with spiritual poetry and artistic depth. Golden Klimt-like embroidery, halo headpieces by Stephen Jones, and fluid silhouettes embroidered with pearls, sequins, and zardozi elevated each look into symbolic visual storytelling.
Highlights included sculpted organza gowns dotted with freshwater pearls, haunting floral corsets in jewel tones, and sheer ensembles echoing medieval mysticism, each piece reflecting both inner reflection and outer spectacle .
Mishra’s show felt like a pilgrimage: honoring Indian traditional techniques while presenting a universal elegy on love’s life cycle. At a time when couture seeks new poetic directions, Becoming Love proved Indian narratives can weave deeply resonant, culturally rich stories on the global stage.
